Lau Angus Annual Bull and Female Sale

“Bear in mind that the wonderful things you learn are the work of many generations. All this is put in your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honor it, add to it, and one day faithfully hand it on to your children.” – Albert Einstein

Lau Angus would not be where it is today without the dedication and hard work of those who came before us. Our story began in 1951 when Ivan Lau, my father, started raising Angus cattle through 4‑H. Today, our farm near Armour, South Dakota, is proudly operated by my wife Carolyn and I (Joel) as the fifth generation of Lau Angus. Our son Riley and his wife Courtney have joined us, continuing the passion for raising Angus cattle. We are deeply grateful to do what we love each day and look forward to passing this heritage on to future generations.

Our family includes four sons—Quenton, Tyler, Riley, and Clayton—each contributing to the legacy in their own way. Quenton and his wife Samantha manage an acreage where they raise cattle and goats. Quenton also works for Agtegra, while Samantha runs a daycare from their home. Tyler and his wife Denise have an acreage near Armour, they farm and raise Angus cattle and goats. Denise handles payroll for Daktronics from home. Riley and his wife Courtney farm near Armour, raising Angus, Simmental and crossbred cattle in partnership with us. Courtney is also a RN and director of patient care. Clayton and his wife Nicole live on the place where Ivan and Priscilla began Lau Angus. Clayton works for the City of Parkston and Nicole is the office manager at Armour Dental.

All of our sons help during busy seasons, ensuring the tradition of quality livestock continues. We are blessed with thirteen grandchildren who bring joy to our lives and inspire us to carry Lau Angus forward for generations to come.

At Lau Angus, we rely on AHIR records, ultrasound data, and 50K genetic testing to continually improve our herd. We select for disposition, calving ease, sound structure, fleshing ability, and fertility. Our genetics reflect the heritage of the American West—time‑tested, proven, and dependable. We stand behind our cattle so you can make confident breeding decisions.

Livestock is our way of life, and we would be delighted to welcome you to our farm to see our cattle firsthand. This year marks the 58th Annual Lau Angus Sale on January 22nd, beginning with a beef lunch. If you cannot attend in person, you can participate through DVAuction services online.

We sincerely appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to serving your seedstock needs.

Warm regards,
The Lau Family
